• Beyond Formalisms: The Art and Science of Desiging Pliant Systems - A Talk with Austin Henderson and Jed Harris. (Chapter 4 in Klaas Kaasgaard, "Software Design and Usability".)

• Evolution in Action: HCI in a World of Pliant Computing. This is paper is Olivia's story, an extended scenario of HCI when the world has gone Pliant. The scenario is accompanied with discussion of the issues being illustrated.

• Presentation at CHI 99. These are the annotated slides of the presentation given at the CHI 99 conference in Pittsburgh in May, 1999. ACM Press, ACM, New York NY. These slides reflect our thinking at the time the talk was given (May 21, 1999) which was a considerable consolidation over the paper on which it is based (as following reference).

• Paper for CHI 99. This paper appears in the proceedings of the CHI 99 conference, Pittsburgh in May, 1999. It is the foundational argument as we understood it at the time the paper was submitted in January 1999.

• Pliant Proposal. Proposal for funding prepared and submitted (January, 1999) in response to ARPA BAA "Expeditions into the 21st Century". This short piece presents the rationale for a new computational architecture and a research agenda for developing a map of the work to be done to get there.
